Getting the Sex You Want teaches readers how to build sexual communication skills quickly and connect with their partner in a new way. Readers learn exercises that enable them to communicate their sexual needs and desires, get past old issues, and revive passion in their relationship.

Review By Gina Ogden
Here is a book I'll recommend to any couple who feels ready to experience a more loving and passionate sexual relationship. Tammy Nelson is an Imago therapist and teacher with two decades of clinical practice. Her skills shine forth not only in the information she offers here, but also in the helpful way the book is organized, with step by step techniques for helping couples recharge their relationships in a variety of situations.

Topics include help for stale-mated partners who "keep score" and for those who "fake it." She offers exercises to deal with the fear, anxiety, control, anger, and resentment that too many couples take to bed with them, and shows ways to express love, trust, appreciation, sensuality, and lusty desire. Other topics include explicit guidance for sexual intimacy that range from massage and genital stimulation to creating sexual rituals. The book concludes with a section on tolerating ecstasy and joy--a problem many people have in our fast-track culture.

If you are a therapist who works with couples--you'll find this book a wonderful resource for you as well as your clients. It spans the divide between couple therapy and sex therapy in a way that guides and educates in a straightforward, collegial manner.

    Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device

    Buy From Amazon
Amazon's latest refresh of its popular Kindle eBook reader is leaner, meaner, and now less than $200. For just $189, the Kindle 3G offers improved battery life, display technology, and can connect over Wi-Fi as well as 3G. In almost every way, Kindle 3G Wireless Reading Device, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 3G Works Globally, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology is an improvement over the previous generation, with a few minor exceptions. Regardless, bookworms will find the Kindle 3G to be one of the best eReaders on the market.

    Design

Aside from the graphite paint job, Amazon also brought some significant design changes in the Kindle 3G. Overall, this new generation is thinner and lighter and has a smaller footprint. At just 7.5 x 4.8 x 0.34 inches and 8.7 ounces (compared to 8.0 x 5.3 x 0.36 inches and 10.2 ounces for the previous model ), it's almost as small and light as the Kobo Reader. The Kindle shares one other similarity to the Kobo: The back of the device, which used to be metallic, now has a soft-touch coating.
In making the unit thinner, it looks like Amazon had to shuffle some internal components around. Now the On/Sleep/Off slider is on the bottom--less convenient, but only a minor annoyance--along with the microUSB port, headphone jack, and volume toggle. The buttons on the sides and lower portion of the device's face are more streamlined and, in some cases, smaller.
The page turn buttons are one of the more obvious changes, being only 0.16 inches thick instead of the 0.4-inch thickness on the Kindle 2. We had feared that the narrower buttons would affect ease of use, but all four are easy to press, yet firm, making for good feedback and a sturdy feel. There are now both Next and Previous Page buttons on both sides, so both left and right-handed readers can use their dominant hand. Plus, the Next Page buttons remain the same length as before, allowing users to rest their thumbs comfortably on them no matter what size hand they have. We had no trouble keeping our thumb in place and our eyes on the display as we read. The joystick of Kindles past has been replaced with a directional pad that sits next to the keyboard instead of under the page turn buttons on the right side. We're not fans of this change, as the arrow keys here are very narrow, and occasionally caused us to accidentally hit the Menu and Back buttons, which have moved down to the keyboard area along with Home. The keyboard remains usable, but we're not sure why Amazon got rid of the number row. To access numbers, users have to press the SYM button, then use the D-pad to select. When entering Wi-Fi passwords or location numbers in books, this quickly becomes tedious.

    Display and Reading Experience

Amazon claims that the e-Ink screen on the Kindle 3G has 50 percent more contrast than the previous generation. Comparing the two side by side, text on the 3G is darker, which makes reading easier. Images benefit from this improvement as well: The cover for N. K. Jemisin's "The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms" is crisper on the 3G, and slightly more detail is visible. The greater contrast also makes reading outdoors easier and more pleasurable.
Users have more control over how the text looks on screen. As before, there are eight font sizes to choose from, but now you can also choose between three typefaces: regular, condensed, and sans serif. Users can also fit more text on a page by shortening the space between words, as well as condensing the amount of space between the lines. We would have appreciated an option that allowed us to increase the space at least one notch as well. There's no built-in accelerometer as with the Kindle DX, but you can manually change the screen orientation in all four directions.
Page turns on the 3G are a hair faster than the Kindle 2, coming in at just under a second.

How to custom screensavers to the Kindle 1

It's rather long, but I'll try to go step by step. Here it is:

    • Connect your Kindle 1 to your computer by USB.
    • Go to the drive by the name of "Kindle" under "My computer".
    • Once there, create a new folder called "pictures" and a sub-folder called "screen_savers" inside of it.
    • Copy all your desired image files to the "screen_savers" folder.
    • Remove the Kindle from the USB connection.
    • Now, go to your Home menu at the Kindle and press "alt-z". By doing this, you'll be creating a book called "screen_savers".
    • Now you can open up this book and you'll be able to see all your images inside.
    • If you're still not on full screen mode, press "alt-F".
    • Go to each one of your photos and click "alt-shift-0(zero)". You'll see a message saying that your image has been exported as a screen saver or something similar.
That's it! Now you can see if it worked by going in and out of sleep mode (with "Alt-aA"). It should appear a different image as screen saver every time. Now you've got your own customized screensaver for your Kindle 1.

How to take care of the Kindle Devices

There are some steps you can take to arrange your kindle is long lasting and safe throughout your years of use. It is important you take care of your kindle as it is a great investment for your future and does not come cheap.

first, purchasing your kindle is purchase an extended warranty on top of the basic warranty already included with your kindle. What is especially nice about this is that you will be afforded one accidental damage repair, such as if you drop your kindle in water or step on it by mistake. The extra price for the extended warranty is worth it in the long run.

Next step to protect your kindle is purchase a kindle cover. You can find sites all over the net that specialize in creating fun and unique covers for your kindle, such as the famous Oberon covers. There are also sites that allow you to create your own design. Some kindle users also find skins to be helpful in reducing scratches. However, be aware that skins are mainly for aesthetic purposes and offer very little protection, especially compared to a kindle cover.

The most common step you can do in order to take care of your kindle is to take care of the battery. Although the battery life of a kindle is great, readers still find themselves running out of battery after hours upon hours of addicted reading. Turn off your wireless internet while reading to save the most battery life. Between reading sessions, you'll want to use the screen saver method for shorter periods and turn it off completely between longer ones.

Do not wait until the battery charge gets to 0%. The lowest recommended battery charge is 20%.  You can recharge your battery everyday. There is no risk of shortening the battery's life this way. Related to the previous tip: You should not, however, recharge your battery to 100% everyday. A top of 80% of the charge is recommended. The ideal temperature for the battery is slightly cool ( not extremely cold or extremely hot).

    Watchlist [Kindle Edition]

    Watchlist [Kindle Edition]
    Jeffery Deaver (Author)

Watchlist is a unique collaboration by twenty-one of the world’s greatest thriller writers including Lee Child, Joseph Finder, David Hewson, S.J. Rozan, Lisa Scottoline, and Jeffery Deaver, who conceived the characters and set the plot in motion; In turn, the other authors each wrote a chapter and Deaver then completed what he started, bringing each novel to its startling conclusion.

Harold Middleton, former crimes of war investigator takes the reader on a non-stop journey around the world in both story lines. The first novella he is on the hunt and then hunted for a never before seen Chopin manuscript. But is there a secret in this never before seen composition? In the second novella, once again Harold Middleton brings us to faraway lands in search of the "Scorpion" and what is the secret of "The Copper Bracelet"? A thriller with brilliant writing that takes the reader on a journey to faraway places spanning the globe, taking the reader into the world of espionage and terrorism. Incredible concept.
Fans of the TV series 24 will best appreciate this two-part serial thriller written by 22 members of International Thriller Writers. Based on an idea by Deaver (The Broken Window), who provides the opening and closing chapters of each segment, the volume recounts the adventures of middle-aged Harold Middleton, an ex-U.S. military intelligence officer. In part one, The Chopin Manuscript, the discovery of a previously unknown Chopin score leads to murders, betrayals, and frantic efforts to stop a villain code-named Faust from carrying out a terrorist outrage. Part two, The Copper Bracelet, sets Middleton and his allies on the track of a Kashmiri planning the assassination of the U.S. secretary of state. While the contributors include many of the biggest names in the genre (Lee Child, Joseph Finder, Gayle Lynds, S.J. Rozan, etc.), the constraints of the form all but assure homogenized prose, thin characters, and stock action scenes atypical of their solo work. (Jan.)

Books written by groups of writers are not new. The most famous probably remains the scandalous Naked Came the Stranger (1969), published pseudonymously by Penelope Ashe but written by a group of newspaper reporters. This one is a thriller—two short novels, really, featuring Harold Middleton, a former military intelligence officer and war-crimes investigator who gets embroiled in international intrigue and derring-do. Jeffery Deaver came up with the basic plots and wrote each story’s opening and closing chapters, while various other writers (Joseph Finder, Erica Spindler, and Lee Child, among them) contributed a chapter. The result is exciting and fast paced (Middleton foils a couple of evil plots while battling some nasty people), and the format gives readers a unique opportunity to watch a story evolving before their eyes, as each writer begins where the previous one left off and adds something new to the mix. Considering that each contributor has his or her own distinct voice, the novel flows surprisingly well, too. Not merely a literary experiment, but a very good thriller in its own right.

      Gulliver's Travels - Kindle Bookstore

Since its publication in 1726, Gulliver's Travels was a great success. Narrative of imaginary journeys, satire savage against corruption and human folly, philosophical treatise, a maze of irony and pretense, the book, Swift is an inexhaustible richness and timeliness amazing. Multilingual, talkative, sometimes informed and sometimes blinded observer who turns the naive enthusiasm to a chronic misanthropy, Gulliver recounts his adventures with a narrative voice whose instability and reflexivity give us the keys to work at the same time that they plunge us into doubt and perplexity. This study attempts to find a way through this treacherous terrain discourse without losing sight of the strength and conviction of one of the most controversial of all the English-language literature.
This fantastic satire of Jonathan Swift reveals almost mythic images that punctuate the narrative comic adventures of Gulliver: chained by the crowd of dwarves on the beach of Lilliput, transformed into a doll by a young giant ... The imagination and verve of Swift are here all their scope. A story that we thought we knew but it is essential to read to understand who was the 'Rabelais' from Ireland.

      Gulliver's Travels [Kindle Edition]
by Jonathan Swift is classic work of satire and adventure that hardly needs my recommendation. Instead, let me comment on this edition published by Sterling. It's a nice hardcover with dustjacket and placeholder ribbon. There are a number of illustrations by Scott McKowen and an afterword by Arthur Pober. If you're looking for a inexpensive, but nice edition of Gulliver's Travels, this kindle books would be a good choice

Dracula [Kindle Edition] - kindle bookstore

Dracula is the worthy heir of a novel by John Polidori. Polidori, in 1817, published a story entitled "The Vampire". For the record, "The Vampire" was born on a bet between the poet Lord Byron and Mary Shelley's writing in a day of a ghost story. Mary Shelley ac-cou-cha Fran-ken-stein. Lord Byron a new beginning, "The Vampire". Polidori then his secretary, drew up the leaves and ... finished the text which appeared later under the name of Byron ...

Rather poorly written (I could see for myself ...) "The Vampire" has the merit of laying the foundations for the modern vampire. Spurred on by Polidori, the vampire out of his corpse status and develop a character of noble aristocrat, distinguished and seductive. Polidori's influence on Dracula is also undeniable if you read the two novels in parallel: one finds the same pattern vampire and a similar shading. Came a few days to settle in Transylvania real estate with a certain Count Dracula, Jonathan Harker at his expense teach the true nature of its host. In "The Vampire", the young Aubrey, visiting London, will bind with a strange lord attending high society, he will eventually expose him too ...

Polidori in his luggage, fascinated by the magnificent "Carmilla" Le Fanu, Bram Stoker had to cogitate on, not to mention dealing with legends of vampirism in the Balkans he consulted with passion. But we had to Stoker something else to begin a novel. A per-son-swim hard. He found in the Romanian folklore: Prince Vlad IV. Leader of Wallachia, Vlad IV is an heir to the tradition of "Dracula" (the name already borne by his father), meaning "devil" or "dragon" depending on the direction. His cruelty was such that it also earned him the nickname of Vlad Tepes (Vlad the Impaler "in Romanian), punishment he was particularly fond. Persecutor of the Turkish invaders and wild-enforcement officials and the law, Vlad Dracul exterminated entire populations, men, women and children. The misdeeds of the Dracul did look like a "Vampyr" devil in Romanian, after a supposed pact with the Dark Lord.

With these references, Bram Stoker and published in 1897 wrote what became one of the pillars of vampire literature. Written as an epistolary novel, letters, articles and diaries interposed, Dracula can be split into several parts. The first, moreover, "the guest of Dracula" tells the meeting of Count Dracula and Jonathan Harker. In this first part, rather fast, there are few allusions to Le Fanu: Dracula does not eat or drink ever in the presence of Jonathan eclipsed during the day and did not return that evening. "Dracula's Guest" does not reveal even the nature of the Count, but these disturbing details and completion of this section leaves no doubt about its evil nature. Then another part introduces other basic characters of the novel, Mina Murray (later her friend Mina Harker, Lucy ...), and of course Dr. Van Helsing. Added to this is Dr. Seward who treats a curious patient, Renfield, in its psychiatric hospital. Insectophage fascinating mental patient, Renfield maintain over novel a telepathic connection with Dracula. Finding strength to oppose it, he will lose life. By his knowledge of the history of the vampire myth, Dr. Van Helsing will be a valuable ally in the fight against Dracula and Lucy and Mina to release, both owned by the power (and charm?) Count. Despite his efforts, Lucy will undergo transformation and will be completed according to the rites. The last part is devoted to the final battle against Dracula ...

Dracula brings together several literary styles. The arrival of Jonhatan Harker is not without thinking about some adventure novels. Similarly, the fight against Dracula evokes themes dear to the novels of chivalry, the gallant heroes fighting a monster, ladies and Professor Van Helsing, both counselor, fighter and spiritual leader. And some moments of sheer terror that have nothing to envy the modern authors. One passage in particular: Dracula's arrival in England was introduced by the logbook of a stricken vessel, which he described the disappearance of every sailor over the nights. Relying constantly on references, Polidori and Le Fanu in mind, Bram Stoker is also some discrepancies or interpretations for the purpose of his work. Thus, the legends say a vampire can not cross running water. The story that Dracula wanted to take the boat to pass his native Transylvania to England, Stoker transforms the clause: it can cross the water until the tide ... Similarly the multiple metamorphoses of Dracula (bats and wolves), are evoked in folklore around here for a much higher plane. There are also some winks: the execution of the vampires, at least technically, once again inspired some legends, but especially "Carmilla" Le Fanu. Lucy, now a non-dead, will be dubbed the "Lady in blood", which for me is an obvious reference to the Countess Bathory. Called the "Blood Countess" Elizabeth Bathory believed to have found the secret of rejuvenation in the daily bloodshed. More than 650 victims during the 16th century have helped to fill the bathtub ...

Dracula is a monument of vampiric literature, led ably by an author very much beating about it. Rather than plagiarize his references, they will make Stoker a subtle tribute throughout his novel. The epistolary style, which may seem daunting at first, adds to the suspense and allows the reader to keep pace with the protagonists. Dracula has inspired many other works. Include Anne Rice, among which we find the elegance and refinement, but also the ruthlessness of these creatures.
Dracula ... A novel worth reading! The epistolary nature of the work (snatches of diaries, letters, etc.) contributes to our involvement in this exciting story of encountering a mysterious lawyer with a single count of atypical bleak landscapes and scenic which is becoming a battle between good and evil ... Short a work that can not be detached from reading the first page! For lovers of fantasy literature and mystical, this masterpiece of Irish literature and fantasy will delight you!

Dracula [Kindle Edition]. Amazon.com Review. Dracula is one of the few horror books to be honored by inclusion in the Norton Critical Edition series. (The others are Frankenstein, The Turn of the Screw, Heart of Darkness, The Picture of Dorian Gray, and The Metamorphosis.) This 100th-anniversary edition includes not only the complete authoritative text of the novel with illuminating footnotes, but also four contextual essays, five reviews from the time of publication, five articles on dramatic and film variations, and seven selections from literary and academic criticism.

Nina Auerbach of the University of Pennsylvania (author of Our Vampires, Ourselves) and horror scholar David J. Skal (author of Hollywood Gothic, The Monster Show, and Screams of Reason) are the editors of the volume. Especially fascinating are excerpts from materials that Bram Stoker consulted in his research for the book, and his working papers over the several years he was composing it. The selection of criticism includes essays on how Dracula deals with female sexuality, gender inversion, homoerotic elements, and
Victorian fears of "reverse colonization" by politically turbulent Transylvania.

      * A classic literary theme
      * Or has books to 1 percent (cheap my brother)

It must be done, because if you are in non-US and you download a free book ($ 0.00), Amazon will tax you still costs $ 2. By cons, if you configure your Amazon account and your soft transfer in U.S., you will not pay the $ 2.

But I admit, the site is pretty messy, so be sure to find something you like, go Google with a query like this, which will give you a list of books offered. I put the word "Computer" but you can change what you want. Good and now that you know it, the killer question: How will we do for the Kindle Attitude farting when you do not Kindle? (Such as me)

Simple ... if you are equipped with an iPhone or iPod Touch, you can download the application on the AppStore Kindle and if you have your good old PC as the only friend there is a Windows application that does everything the same as the Kindle.

At Amazon, we've always been obsessed with having every book ever printed, and we know that even the best book reader is useless without the books you want to read. We are fortunate that we have tens of millions of book customers at Amazon, and as a result, we know the books customers want to read and we prioritize getting those titles. With over 630,000 titles, the Kindle store contains the largest selection of the books people want to read including New York Times® Best Sellers and new releases from $9.99. Along with today's bestsellers, the Kindle store offers thousands of free popular classics including titles such as The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, Pride and Prejudice, and Treasure Island. Kindle customers can also discover and download over 1.8 million free, pre-1923, out-of-copyright titles from other websites

      Kindle Application

Amazon released the Kindle for PC application free of charge, allowing users to read Kindle books on a Windows PC. Amazon later released a version for the Macintosh. Versions for mobile devices running on operating systems from Research in Motion, Apple, Android and Google are also available free of charge. None of these alternate versions can currently read newspapers, magazines, or blogs, the way they are readable on the Kindle device itself. Amazon has announced that periodical support will soon be added to the Kindle apps for other platforms. you can download the free Kindle app from iTunes store and read books on the move using your iPhone or iPod Touch.

While most eBooks available on the Amazon Kindle store are paid, here are some simple ways by which you can find and download free books for reading on your Kindle Reader or your Kindle Desktop application.

      1. Google Books on your Kindle

Project Gutenberg, Google Books and FeedBooks are some popular sites that offer a large collection of public domain books in the standard ePUB format.
The Kindle for PC application cannot read ePUB files directly but you can use the excellent Stanza program
(from Amazon itself) to convert these public domain books from .epub into .mobi format that you can then import into Kindle Desktop for reading*. That means you now have millions of out-of-copyright books for your Kindle for free.
[*] You can also use Stanza to convert PDFs, HTML web pages and other Office documents into .mobi format for reading inside the Kindle App but I see little reason why would anyone want to do so since the reading experience is not all that great.

      2. Find Free Kindle Books on Amazon.com

Before your proceed, please log-in to your Amazon account, choose “Manage your Kindle” and change the country associated with your Kindle account to “United States”. This is important because most “free” content on the Kindle Bookstore is currently restricted to North America.
OK, now let’s explore ways to find free Kindle books:
#2.1 Big Deals – This is more of an official listing of Kindle books that are currently available as a free download on Amazon.com to Kindle users. You should also check the Bestsellers category on Kindle Store as it again lists quite a good number of free titles.
2.2 Sort by Price – When you search for a Kindle book (or any other item) on Amazon.com, it displays search results by relevance.
If you change this default sort order from “Relevance” to “Price: Low to High”, you’ll get a list of all Kindle books that match your search keywords and are available as a free download. For instance, here’s a list of Kindle books that are related to “India” but cost exactly $0.00.
2.3 Listmania - This is another resource where you can discover Kindle books that are available for free.
Listmania Lists are basically a list of products compiled by Amazon users. You can use search phrases like “free kindle books”, “kindle freebie”, “penny kindle book”, etc. to discover lists that may free books you are looking for. For instance, here’s one Listmania List of 27 classic books for Kindle that are absolutely free and here’s another one that also includes copyrighted books.
2.4 Use Google – Here’s an unofficial method to help you find Kindle books that are available for free on Amazon.com.
You can use the following search query in Google to search the Amazon store for free Kindle books – just replace the search-phrase in red with the name of the book, author, book category, etc.

      intitle:kindle site:amazon.com "you save * (100%)" search-phrase

For instance, here’s a list of free Kindle books related to Abraham Lincoln while here’s a list of Kindle books on Shakespeare that are again free.

Note: Kindle Pricing for International users
If the cost of a Kindle book is mentioned as $0.00 on the Amazon Store, it will still show up as $2.00 for you if the country associated with your Kindle is something other than United States. This is because Amazon charges a $2 roaming fee for “international downloads”.
You can either temporarily change your Kindle country to US or use the “Transfer via Computer” option when buying a book and you won’t be charged that extra $2 fees.

      International version

On October 7, 2009, Amazon announced an international version of the Kindle 2 that works in over 100 countries. It became available October 19, 2009. The international Kindle 2 is physically very similar to the U.S.-only model, although it uses a different mobile network standard.
The original Kindle 2 uses CDMA2000, for use on the Sprint network. The international version uses standard GSM and 3G GSM, enabling it to be used on AT&T's U.S. mobile network and internationally in 100 other countries.
Kindle 2 International Version is believed to have a noticeably higher contrast screen, although Amazon does not advertise this.
On October 22, Amazon lowered the price on the international version from $279 to $259 and discontinued the U.S.-only model. On June 21, 2010, hours after Barnes & Noble lowered the price of its Nook, Amazon lowered the price of the Kindle 2 to $189, undercutting the Nook by $10.

      Kindle 2nd Generation

      kindlebookstore
On February 10, 2009, Amazon announced the Kindle 2. It became available for purchase on February 23, 2009. The Kindle 2 features a text-to-speech option to read the text aloud, and 2 GB of internal memory of which 1.4 GB is user-accessible. By Amazon's estimates the Kindle 2 can hold about 1500 non-illustrated books. Unlike the Kindle First Generation, Kindle 2 does not have a slot for SD memory cards. It was slimmer than the original Kindle.

      * Screen: 6 "diagonal electronic ink technology with E Ink ®, resolution of 600 x 800 pixels at 167 dpi, 16 levels of gray.
       * Size of the unit: approximately 203.2 mm x 134.6 mm x 9.1 mm.
       * Weight: approximately 289.2 grams.
       * Memory: 2 GB internal (about 1.4 GB available for user content).
       * Autonomy: from a full charge up to 4 days of reading with wireless reception enabled.
      up to two weeks

reading with the wireless off. (Given as an indication)

      * Connectivity: Modem HSDPA (3G) compatible EDGE / GPRS network uses the Amazon Whispernet (availability depending on the coverage of the respective countries)* USB port: USB 2.0 micro-sized B* Audio: Stereo 3.5 mm jack, stereo speakers in the rear of the unit.
       * Supported formats: Kindle (AZW), TXT, Audible (Audible Enhanced (AA, AAX)), MP3, unprotected MOBI, PRC natively; PDF, HTML, DOC, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMP after conversion.

It seems that the drop of prices for memory components contributed to the abandonment of the SD Card slot in favor of a much larger internal capacity of the unit.

To promote the new Kindle, author Stephen King made UR, his then-new novella, available exclusively through the Kindle Store. on October 22, 2009, Amazon stopped selling the original Kindle 2 in favor of the international version it had introduced earlier in the month.

According to an early review by iFixIt, the Kindle 2 features a Freescale 532 MHz, ARM-11 90 nm processor, 32 MB main memory, 2 GB moviNAND flash storage and a 3.7 V 1530 mAh lithium polymer battery.

On November 24, 2009, Amazon released a firmware update for the Kindle 2 that it said increases battery life by 85% and introduces native PDF support.
On July 8, 2009, Amazon reduced price of the Kindle 2 from the original $359 to $299. On October 7, 2009, Amazon further reduced the price of the Kindle 2 to $259. The Kindle 2 was criticized for its high original retail price, compared to the $185.49 manufacturing cost estimated by iSuppli.

      Amazon Kindle -Books Store Review

      kindle book store
Amazon launches digital book reader, Kindle.
Jeff Bezos, CEO of Amazon, launched Monday, November 19 digital music player called "Kindle". Listed in the U.S. at a price of 399 dollars (275 euros), this unit from 13.5 to 19.5 cm using the latest technologies for digital paper and is equipped with a mobile broadband connection (on the American network), a keyboard and a memory that can hold the equivalent of a small library of 200 books with a total weight of 310 grams.

88,000 books and dozens of newspaper titles are already available and downloadable directly on the site of the leading seller of books on the internet, but only with DRM and under its proprietary digital format - the PRC, the competitor to PDF Adobe, developed by the French company Mobipocket (bought two years ago by Amazon) - which prevents it from being read on players from other brands, such as the Sony Reader from the Japanese group Sony.

The Kindle can read text files or images to Word, HTML, TXT, JPEG, GIF and PNG. With WiFi connectivity, you can surf the internet, but in black and white and so far only on the Amazon site. The Kindle is also equipped with a sound system for listening to audiobooks.

Digitized books - yet public securities in English - are available at various price not exceeding $ 10, against 25 to 30 dollars for the same works in paper edition and subscriptions to newspapers such as those dailies The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal are about $ 15 per month. Finally automation of Kindle is about thirty hours. No date has been set yet for marketing in France.

The goal of Amazon, which has the advantage of clients and a large database, is reproduced in the book the success of Apple in the music field with its iPod music player and store iTunes online. According to The Association of American Publishers, sales of digital books rose 24% last year. Various book publishers and press are beginning to enrich the offer by offering versions for e-paper e-book readers.

On a larger scale platforms for download, free or not, will also put in place, such as the Kiosk Digital Lagardère group or the online library Google Books. Some experts believe the market could take off when the function e-book reader will converge on digital cameras mobile multi-function, as might be the case with future Apple iPhone, which already combine all the functions of both of mobile phone, handheld, multimedia device (camera, video ,...) and music player.
